Where better to start than now?

I have been diagnosed with a Squamous Cell Carcinoma at the left base of the tongue. I am in my room at the Charing Cross Hospital (top floor) waiting for the lines to be put in for the start of my chemotherapy.  This is the start of a 3 month therapy - 2 rounds of chemo (5 days on - in Hospital, 16 days off - at home) and then 6 weeks of radiotherapy (as an Outpatient) with more chemo on day 1 and day 21 of the radiotherapy.  As time goes on perhaps I will become more obsessive and specific about the drugs in use  :-)

I am calm and in a positive frame of mind, and feel that I am in good hands.  The prognosis is also good (better than 80% chance of complete recovery) and, of course, that has encouraged me to undergo this treatment.  Simon Stewart is the consultant Oncologist in charge of my case.  There was an interesting short history of my journey to meeting Simon, and I will outline that in a later post.

I am very interested in complementary therapies as well, and I have had some help from a hypnotherapist (Claudia Nielsen) already, as well as nutritional and food supplement advice from Bob Jacobs at SCM. Nutrition is also important of course and I am doing lots of juicing of green plants.

Gareth,
Tom Delegeorge, here.
I'm so sorry to hear of your situation and am glad to also read that you will have a 80% chance of full recovery. The reason I am writing this is to add some information about your request for complementary therapies.
I am involved with a monthly meeting which is primarily a cancer survivors meeting where people meet and hear testimonials about how this CANTRON liquid they take under their tongue every 3-6 hours (depending on severity of situation)has completely eliminated their cancers. It does not work on everyone or everytime, but seems to have a 90+% effective rate. It did not work on my sister, but she did not take it seriously, as directed, because it tends to stain your teeth while it works, even though you can brush after each use to eliminate that problem. She was very vain. I think that's why we buried her a year ago last January. Anyway, check it out because I am convinced it will work based upon all the testimonies I've heard and would take it in a second, if I had cancer. If you need more information, let me know and I an give you some people's names to contact. The stuff originated here in Michigan, so all the contacts are local. You take it under your tongue (1/4 teaspoon) every 3-6 hours round the clock and the bottle last about 3 months. It costs us about $120 a bottle which is wholesale price compared to what they charge on the internet. Of course you should also take other supplements to help get rid of the dead cells created, so there is a little more to it, but not that much. I understand that if you've had chemo and radiation, which drastically affect your immune system, it takes longer to see the results from taking Cantron, but it does work in conjuction with those things. Just trying to help you, even though I'm sure you're getting lots of information which has your head swimming in what to do.
Good luck to you.
