Hearing Issues

After the last dose of chemo I seem to have lost some high frequency from my hearing, which is upsetting, although I think it is improving as the week goes on.  I am also getting occasional high pitched whines in either ear.  This tinnitus doesn't last long and isn't very loud, but still......

Obviously I will be quizzing Dr Stewart on Monday.

Gareth, I'm sorry to hear of that. I can relate. For several years now I myself have had a mild case of tinnitus which, among other things, impedes sleep; I usually have to mask the ringing with a portable fan or with very soft music in order to get to sleep.

I hope you can get some good information from your doctor and please keep us posted!

Hi Gareth,

I had a teacher at school who shared my tinnitus (I started young) who had a very soothing take on it. He said it reminded him of laying in a field under a warm sun, surrounded by crickets. I found it easier to sleep after that.

Love,

Tim

So glad to have found your blog today, it has been quite a confort in many ways. I too am journeying with cancer and can relate to much of what you say. I wish you all the very best on your journey and would also like to say "thank you".
